Alexander Garmondyu Wrehyou

Alexander Garmondyu Wrehyou is a Climate Change Engineer, Environmentalist, and Geologist with over a decade of professional experience in environment and climate change policy, biodiversity conservation, circular economy, and sustainable natural resource management. A vetted member of the United Nations Global Policy Network, he has led high-impact projects in West Africa, Europe, and Asia, providing technical expertise in waste-to-energy solutions, wastewater treatment, renewable energy, and environmental safeguards, including the Climate Equipment Needs Assessment for the Liberia’s Climate Information Project (CIS), and the Enhancing the Resilience for Vulnerable Coastal Communities in Sinoe (ERVCCS) project.

He served as Environmental and Natural Resource Manager/Lead on Environment and Circular Economy with The Nature Compact (TNC), Liberia, where he oversees environmental impact assessments, biodiversity monitoring, ecosystem restoration, and development of environmental frameworks. He has also served as Nature & Biodiversity Advisor at Frontierra (Scotland), Programme Delivery Consultant with Welsh Water (UK), and Environmental Consultant with Mace Dragadors on HS2 (UK), supporting large-scale infrastructure and conservation programs aligned with biodiversity and sustainability agendas. 

Mr. Wrehyou holds an MSc in Sustainability and Climate Change (University of Wolverhampton, UK), an MSc in Petroleum and Environmental Technology (Coventry University, UK), and a BSc in Geology (University of Liberia). He has complemented these with advanced certifications from Cambridge University on the Sustainable Development Goals and the Law, Global Biodiversity Framework and the Law, and the Paris Agreement and the Law, as well as professional training with the UN Environment Programme and UNDRR on nature-based solutions and climate resilience, and completing a NEBOSH Diploma in Environmental Management (International).

His technical expertise spans climate information systems, waste-to-energy technology, forest and biodiversity monitoring, stakeholder engagement, project planning, competent with remote sensing software, and project monitoring software. He has authored peer-reviewed publications on renewable energy, including Synergizing Solar Farm into Liberia’s Energy Mix and Cultivating Electricity from Waste.

Passionate about advancing sustainable development, Mr. Wrehyou bridges science, policy, and practice to deliver innovative solutions that address climate change, biodiversity loss, and energy insecurity, while fostering inclusive, community-driven resilience strategies.
